Welcome to Life as Rog. I wanted to fill you in on a little bit about me and why I have this website.
Who Am I?
Let’s see how far back should I go? I feel the only way to have you get to know me is to know alittle about my past.
In 1987 I graduated from high school and decided to go into the Army. I served for 8 years and spent time in Louisiana, and Germany for two tours. (Germany was by far my favorite place to be stationed.). My last post was in Fort Drum, New York where I got out of the Army in August of 1995.
I met my wife while stationed at Ft. Drum, NY as she had been visiting friends of hers. She had been stationed there with her ‘then ex-husband’ which is a whole other story. We started dating end of January 1995, I asked her to marry me once in March 1995, and then again in May 1995 when she said Yes. We then got married at the end of September 1995. (at the time she had 2 sons who were 4 and 1 years old from her previous marriage).
I started this website a couple years ago on advice of my wife. I dabbled at first writing about a diet I was on and from there here I am. During this time I did VA work (virtual assistant) for another business and enjoyed doing it. When that ended I decided to get back to posting on my site. I will share more about what has gone on in our life since moving back into our home in June 2020.
I also have a soybean wax melt business that I started in October 2020. You are welcome to visit it here: Papasmeltinwax.com.
Who is my wife?
First off she is the love of my life. I have always told her that I fell for her the moment that I met her. At the time she worked for her father’s Nationwide Insurance office abd was going through a divorce which was not her plan. She actually had went back to work full time as she had been part-time since she was now raising two small boys alone.
Thirty years after her Dad decided to retire from the insurance business, Becky came home. She decided she wanted to work from home. I was doing daycare out of our home so Becky decided to help me become a group daycare at home. Needless to say and to keep a long story short. Becky decided coworking daycare with me wasn’t what she enjoyed. Not because of me, but although she loves kids (our kids, nieces, nephews, etc) watching kids in our home wasn’t her thing. So although she still helped me out, she was able to move on with her own vision.
Becky started a soybean candle online store which led to doing retail and wholesale online for over 5 years. She then became a WebHost and started self-teaching herself how to make websites out of code, then WordPress. During this time she started “What U Talking Bout Willis” as a joke in 2009. (she says she didn’t know what she was doing). At just shy of 11 years she sold her site for 5 figures this past April. It was to help out with living expenses as we were living in a hotel waiting for our house to be completed among other things we needed. I think if we hadn’t have needed it she would still own that now.
She now owns a few websites, is selling starter sites and helping me out with my website.
Our family
Becky and I have been married for over 25 years as of September. We have 3 grown children, a wonderful daughter-in-law who is married to our oldest son, and 2 grandchildren, (girl-age 10, and a boy age 5). Our 2 boys live local, while our youngest (our daughter) lives in Brooklyn NY.
Once we moved back into our home June 2020 we decided to start looking for a dog. We ended up getting a Great Dane from Tenessee on August 31, 2020. We named him Jasper Blu Sunshine, his dad’s name is Blu and his mom’s name is Sunshine.
He is now just turning 7 months on February 9th and we don’t even know how much he weighs. We just know it is a lot. He makes us laugh more than not, although since he is still a puppy he can be a full-time job at times.
We hope you will join us and be a part of our Life as Rog family!
